Jai Richards recently joined the partnership at Crossroads Therapeutic Solutions in April 2017. He is a Registered Psychologist and has a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (2010) from Goddard College in Vermont, USA and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario in London. Jai has experience working with adult individuals, couples and families. Previously Jai was employed with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (current) and provided contractual counselling services at Family Service Saskatoon and Penny Murphy and Associates, as well as his own private practice.
Jai uses an eclectic and integrative approach to therapy, using a variety of counselling theories and modalities tailored to each client. These approaches could include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative therapy, EMDR, SE, Strengths-based and Solution Focussed Therapy. Jai’s aim is to work in partnership with clients in a safe therapeutic, non-judgmental environment to explore aspects of your life that you may wish to clarify, understand or change. He also works to help you accept yourself and/or change your behaviour to one which is more productive for you and to help you move towards becoming the person you want to be.
Jai’s professional experience is in the areas of healthy relationships (including same sex couples), gender identity issues, anger and/or violence in relationships (with both victims and aggressors), trauma, anxiety, depression, stress management, grief/loss and those who have committed a sexual offense.
Jai has many years of experience in facilitating both educational and therapeutic groups such as: intimate partner violence, sexual offenders, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, anger in relationships and moving on from trauma.
