“Safety is much more than the absence of threat. Safety is the presence of connection.”
– Stephen Porges
“Never confuse your comfort with your safety”
– Unknown

Are you longing for more connection in your life? With yourself and others? We’ve all been there. Do you feel ready to look closer at the patterns in your life and get curious about what could be different? It might be uncomfortable, but the reward could be freedom from the fears that hold you back from deeper intimacy and growth. As a clinical social worker for over 20 years, Sheena is passionate about fostering a secure space for individuals and couples to take the risk of leaving their comfort zone for the true safety of connection.

Specializing in relationships of all kinds, Sheena has advanced training in Emotion-Focussed Couples Therapy, the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy, Sex Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-based stress reduction therapies, mediation and conflict resolution, and Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Sheena also sees individuals and has a particular interest in treating trauma, anxiety, and attachment issues. A certified yoga instructor, Sheena incorporates mind-body techniques when appropriate. Sheena is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management and facilitates crisis response for first responders and other workplaces.

As an approved provider of Health Canada’s First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; cultural humility and reconciliation are important to Sheena. She acknowledges her responsibilities under the TRC and is committed to continual learning, critical self-reflection, and social action to address the injustice and inequalities experienced by Indigenous peoples.
